Pediatric Therapy Services

Play Makes Sensory specializes in play-based speech, feeding, and occupational therapy for children of all ages. We serve families at our two clinic locations in Katy, TX, and Cypress, TX, and also meet children on-site at their ABA center.

Let’s Begin with an Evaluation

At your child’s first session, we’ll complete an initial evaluation to learn about their developmental strengths, personal interests, and support needs. Our evaluations are typically comprised of the following:

  • Parent interview

  • Natural observations

  • Formal assessments

Once the evaluation is complete, we’ll work together to create goals for your child, design an individualized treatment plan, and schedule weekly therapy sessions.

The Play Makes Sensory Approach to Therapy

Our therapists know that regulation is the foundation for learning. That’s why we get kids moving, help them feel safe to try new things, and use play as a way to build new skills.

Our team-based approach means that we collaborate with other disciplines and focus on what matters most to your family. We welcome parent questions and insights, and we’ll stay in touch with you every step of the way. You’ll even get home exercises texted straight to your phone via our HIPAA-secure messaging app!

Speech Therapy for Kids

Our play-based speech therapy sessions empower children to communicate in the way that works best for them, whether through speech, gestures, or AAC. Using a combination of visuals, modeling, and hands-on activities, speech therapy will help your child:

  • Express themselves clearly and fluently

  • Follow directions and answer questions

  • Use new words and build complete sentences

  • Build social skills like turn-taking, emotional understanding, and problem-solving

Occupational Therapy for Kids

Our OT sessions begin with a sensorimotor activity to help your child regulate their emotions and body, and lead into personalized activities to help them reach their goals. While your child will feel like they’re just playing, we’ll be working on skills to help them:

  • Develop fine and gross motor skills for daily activities

  • Independently dress, self-feed, and care for themselves

  • Improve their strength, balance, and coordination

  • Gain social skills

Feeding Therapy for Kids

Our speech and occupational therapists work together to support families through picky eating challenges, using sensory strategies from the SOS Approach to Feeding. Feeding therapy will focus on making food a safe and positive experience, so that your child can:

  • Try new tastes and textures

  • Enjoy a wider variety of foods

  • Eat more nutritious foods

  • Experience less stress during mealtimes
